In my Federer blog the topic have often started bordering on spirituality of late, and I have learned a lot about Roger as a person. So I decided to write another post about Roger in my spirituality blog. I think there is more to be learned from Roger is terms of spirituality. Something that has really become clear to me about him is his lack of fear. He stated in an interview a while ago that he does not fear death. It is said that all fears start with the fear of death. All fear ultimately come from the fear of death. It makes sense too. If you don’t fear death, what is there left to fear? For everyone death is the ultimate step into the unknown.

No one knows exactly what happens when we die, accept maybe people who died and came back. People who had these near death experiences often come back having found a profound peace. They come back to life to assure us that what lies beyond this life is something wonderful, that it’s nothing to be scared of. Roger Federer is not scared of death and you can see it in the way he lives his life. He lives life to the full, there is no holding back. He has an unerring belief in himself, he literally believes he can win every match he plays, no matter how big the occasion. Throughout his historic wins at the the French Open and Wimbledon this year, he was in desperate situations on several occasions.

Yet he came through it as though it was never in doubt. How does he keep winning? How does he keep defying the odds time and time again? It’s not luck that’s for sure. He can do it because he has an almost a godlike aura around him. When players come up against him they are playing more then just Roger Federer. They are playing against some fearless entity. That is why when they  are in the position to beat him, they fail 90% of the time. They know Roger have no fear when the pressure is on, and more then anything that is why they find it so hard to beat him. Of course he has unheard of talent, but so do many other players.

In both the French Open and Wimbledon there were occasions when he was literally a point away from failing to make history. History was weighing heavily on his shoulders. Yet he got through those moments and prevailed. That takes more then just talent, it takes heart. The man has incredible heart, and he is totally fearless. If only all of us could live our lives without fear. In truth fear is an illusion, because we can never lose that which matters most, which is our soul. Our soul never ceases to exist. When you live your life in the knowledge that you are not your physical body but you soul, you lose all fear. This allows you to live your life without holding back.

And that in turn allows you to do great things and allow you to live your life to it’s full potential. A saying which sums this up very well is “There is nothing to fear but fear itself”. There is really nothing to fear. This is because you have limitless potential within you. The only difference between you and God is in your mind. The truth is we are all part of the same Source, we all come from the Source and will return there one day. For a long time I lived my life believing in limitations. Wherever I looked I saw lack and limitation, and I was filled with fear. But really there is nothing to fear. I must say I have been hugely inspired by Roger Federer of late.

What he has done in the last couple of months has been nothing short of amazing. He has truly inspired me to be fearless myself, and live my life to it’s full potential.

Thank you Roger.
