The Enlightened Master

Enlightenment is the ultimate achievement in spiritual terms, and therefor also the ultimate achievement, ultimately speaking. There are many definitions for enlightenment, but it is also hard to define. This is because enlightenment doesn’t point to any ‘thing’. It’s really beyond description and can’t be understood by the intellect. It can only be ‘felt’. It’s a state of being. I can’t say for sure what it is, because I’m not enlightened. Yet anyway. The ancient wisdom traditions described enlightenment by what it is not, for instance unmanifest, unborn, undying etc. It is that field of all possibilities where creation came from.
Being in state of enlightenment is sufficient in itself. It is the knowing that you are the Source of all things, that you are the observer, the observed and the process of observation itself. Knowing that you are all these things must be awesome, and I can imagine that it must be a state of nirvana. How does one become an enlightened master? Again I can’t say for sure because I am not one myself, but I have an idea. First of all I think eventually everyone reaches enlightenment. There is no failure when it comes to enlightenment. How can there be when you were created in the image of God?
In truth you are already enlightened, but you have yet to experience it. You chose to get lost in this illusion of time in space so that you could find yourself again and experience your divinity. So ultimately there is nothing more to do than to become enlightened. It is really all there is to do. You can either go about it consciously or you can do it unconsciously, in which case it will take much longer. If achieving enlightenment is all there is to do, then why not make it your goal? If you goal is making money, gaining power, having sex or whatever, it will lead you to enlightenment anyway. But that is like taking the long road instead of a much shorter one.
Making enlightenment your primary goal is thus the first step, because it is your primary goal. Once you intend to become enlightened the circumstances and events that are necessary will start falling into place. There is no specific way to find enlightenment. Therefor I can’t tell you exactly how to get there. I can only give you some broad outlines and then you must find your own way. But you will be supported along the way and find the necessary guidance if you ask for it. Ultimately everyone must find their own way because enlightenment means being 100% independent. It is the ultimate prize.
It is realizing your oneness with the Source, and therefor you wouldn’t need anything outside of yourself to be happy. That’s smething that is hard for us to imagine, because we are in a constant state of need. Once we satisfy one desire we move onto the next in what seems to be an unending search for fulfillment. Can you imagine being 100% fulfilled just by being? Not needing anything or anyone to be happy? Finally being at peace? That is what enlightenment is and that is where you are heading. whether you know it or not. Isn’t it cool?
