I used this diagram in my previous post, but I only found it after I made the post. I thought it fit in really well with the post and it says so much that I decided to make another post about it. This diagram is an accurate depiction of reality as far as I’m concerned. Every spiritual tradition has told us that we are a three part being – mind, body, and spirit. As the diagram shows, each one overlaps with the other. But where does the body, mind, and spirit come from and what keeps it together? Love. Love is at the heart of existence. It is ultimate reality.

Ultimately the body, the mind, and even the individual soul is an illusion. All that exists is love. In my previous post I was talking about vibrational frequencies, and that the lowest vibrational frequency is the material world while the highest vibrational frequency was the spirit world. In the diagram the body is the darkest color, and as the vibrational frequency increases the colors get lighter and more subtle. At the most subtle level is love, which is white. White is the inclusion of all color. We tend to associate white with cleanliness or light.

On the other hand dark or black is seen as evil or the absence of love. But there is more than black and white to the love that I am referring to. The love that is ultimate reality is beyond good and evil. There is no duality in absolute reality, only complete love. Ultimate reality implies nothingness or the absence of all things. However it is not an empty, dead nothingness. It is a nothingness that contains the potential for all things and is vibrant and dynamic. From this nothingness the whole universe was born. This diagram doesn’t only have to be a reflexion of the human body, mind, and spirit.

It could also be the physical universe, the thinking universe, and the spiritual universe. But the important thing to realize is that it is all one thing. The Source of the body, mind, and spirit is love, and that is our true home. It is possible to get deeply lost in the body and mind, but no matter how lost you get, you can never be separated from your Source. You will always be connected to your Source and you will one day return there fully. This is the goal of the spiritual path. But since the end result is inevitable, it is not really a goal.

More accurately the goal of the spiritual path is to get there faster and thereby escape the suffering and limitations imposed by the ego. Now it becomes clear how important love is. Perfect love is complete and contains not a speck of suffering.

In the current paradigm we seem to give primary importance to outer reality, while the inner reality is secondary, although that is changing. The most important people in the world are those who have the most money, most fame, best job, etc. And this despite the fact that the material world is all but an illusion. Science has already shown that material things are made of atoms, which in turn is made of 99.999% empty space. For something so non-existent we seem to give an awful lot of importance to ‘things’. In spirituality however the less material something is, the more real it is.

The reason for this is that for anything to be physical, it’s vibrational frequency has to slow down. The higher the vibrational level, the more intelligence and creativity is available. Material things have hardly any intelligence and creativity, accept for knowing how to be that physical thing. A rock has enough intelligence to be a rock for instance. Animals are at a higher vibrational frequency than purely material things since they are actually living, breathing things. Human are unique in that they are self-aware. They are therefor at the highest vibrational frequency of anything on earth.

And what is more is that humans have the ability to control their own vibrational frequency. This is where the inner journey comes in. No other species have an inner journey. For me this journey started a long time ago without me knowing it. I have been in emotional states in my life which is impossible to explain in words. I am talking of depression, panic attacks and nervous breakdown. All these things happen at a very low vibrational frequency. Just as there are no limits to how high you can raise your vibrational frequency, there are no limit to how low it can go.

There were times in my life where I felt like nothing more than an animal. I didn’t even have the ability to feel. I was just a dead piece of flesh walking around. This is the true definition of hell. Hell is not some place at the center of the earth where people physically burn like Christians would have you believe. It is a state of separation from your Source. It is to be in total and complete darkness. I was in this state once and at its worst it felt like I was physically burning. So actually the Christians were not too far from the truth. They got it wrong when they said this is a permanent state however.

It is impossible to be cut of from your Source indefinitely. This is because you are Source. The only reason you don’t realize this is because of your ego. Your ego lives in fear and separation, and as long as you identify with it you won’t raise your vibration and move to a higher frequency where more empowerment and creativity is available to you. Like I said, my inner journey started a long time ago when I was as cut off from my Source as it is possible to be. This is the most frightening and hopeless place that you could ever imagine.

For instance when I had a nervous breakdown I knew I could never recover. I had reached a point of no return. Yet I don’t feel like that anymore. Why? Because I was so identified with me ego, I totally believed in it’s lies. When people commit suicide they have been convinced by their egos that there is no hope left. But there is always hope. However convincing the ego may be and however lost it can make you feel, it is not real. As long as you hold onto hope their is always a way. I could have given up many many times in my life, but I always held on to some hope, however dark things became.

Today I am mostly free of these things. I am not where I want to be in live in terms of material success, but having overcome my existential crises has been a huge victory. The thing about the current paradigm is that you don’t get any credit for your inner journey. We tend to give credit to those who have achieved a lot on the outer journey. But compared to the inner journey, the outer journey pales in comparison. Some of the most successful people on the material level are some of the most miserable people, while some of the most unsuccessful people on the material level are still happy.

This is because happiness ultimately comes from within at the level of the soul. People who have achieved this kind of happiness are not looked up to by society, but they should. It is much harder to achieve lasting happiness than to achieve some level of material success. To come through what I have been through in my life was an exceedingly hard task. It was so hard that there is no way I can put it into words. But because I am not successful on the material level yet I don’t get any credit. So the inner journey is not rewarding in that sense. You are alone on the path.

But it is well worth it. When you become one with your Source there will be no words to describe the experience. You will know once and for all that you are immortal, invincible, infinitely creative, infinitely intelligent, love, bliss, and much more. But you don’t have to wait until that day before you will have access to all these things. As you progress on the path these things will gradually increase in your life. Some very basic ways in which you can start raising your vibration today and become more empowered is through exercise, listening to your favorite music, meditation, enough sleep, becoming more loving and compassionate, relaxation, and staying hydrated by drinking enough water.

These are all things that will help you bypass the ego and access more of your Source where all power lies.

This is a follow-up of my last post where I asked the same question about science. Science and religion is of course two very different things on the surface, but as you’ll find out, they are not all that different. As with science, the overall motivation behind religion is a good one. The message of religion is one of love, but we all know it has miserably failed in that regard. Religion has caused countless wars and human deaths. It has served to divide, instead of fulfilling its intention to unite. It is more than obvious that religion is not the answer for the world’s problems.

In fact religion and science together has caused the most division and destruction is the world. The reason that religion has failed is because they come from a position of ‘being right’. Of course there is no such thing as right or wrong. Right and wrong are illusions created by the ego. There is only perception. Everyone interprets the world in a unique way, and that is a gift. But when you start thinking that your interpretation is the right one and the interpretation of others is wrong, then you miss the mark. This is of course what religion does.

Religion says that their religion is the one true religion, and the rest are wrong. It does this to the point where war is justified as a means to enforce their world view on others. But never has enforcing one’s world view on others ever converted anyone. It has only made others hate your religion even more. But at the soul level all things are one, so it makes no sense whatsoever to be right. In fact it’s not possible to be right. This would explain why no one has ever been made happy by being right. The ego wants you to believe that by being right and in control you will be happy, but it never works.

It may make you feel some sort of superficial pleasure and control for a while, but that feeling fades very quickly. To find lasting happiness it is necessary to stop ‘being right’. You can still have a point of view, but there is no need to defend that point of view. This frees up a tremendous amount of energy which was previously spent on defending your point of view and fighting others. I don’t know if religion is capable of doing this. The only way religion could do this is if they let go of all dogma and superstition and follow the real message that was put forward by Jesus, Buddha, Mohammad, etc.

As far as I’m concerned the message of these enlightened masters was one of love where everyone was included and judgement did not exist. But of course religion interprets this in a very different way, which makes it hard for me to believe that religion can work. I think in the end religion is neither good nor bad, because the intention behind religion was a good one. But the way in which we use religion makes it bad, just as the way we use science makes it bad. I think the future can only work if religion and science is somehow combined.

In this way science will get rid of all the dogma and superstition surrounding religion, while religion would breathe life into a dead science which has no soul. This is a new spirituality which will transcend both the religion and science of old. At the moment both science and religion lacks spirituality, or wholeness. The great scientist Albert Einstein believed in God as a set of universal laws which governed the universe. He believed in a deterministic universe in other words. This is pretty much what science currently believes.

But this point of view is flawed. If God is just a bunch of deterministic natural laws, it fails to explain a huge amount of anomalies that has occurred in these laws which cannot be explained. If the universe is deterministic it is still dead. It means we are all basically zombies incapable of having any real spiritual experiences, which is simply not true. Just because atheists have closed their minds to spiritual experiences does not mean it doesn’t exist. A spiritual person knows that these experiences are very real indeed. Religion goes the other way.

They dream up spiritual hallucinations that simply isn’t true. Things like Satan, heaven, and hell are of course illusions. It’s part of a primitive belief system that has become outmoded and obsolete. It smells of fear and ego, and less and less people are buying into these things in a time where science is doing a good job of ending religious superstition. As I said, I believe if the future is to work, it lies in a better understanding of modern science and spirituality. Somehow all these things must come together to show that we are all one and capable of creating much love, peace, and joy.

I believe this is where we are currently heading.

I think most people would think that science is good, because it has certainly made our lives more comfortable. Advances in science has been immense in the last 100 years or so. In a way science has brought us all together through things like improved transportation and communication. First it was television, and now the internet makes it possible to access all kinds of information 24/7. But being more comfortable does not necessarily mean more happiness. Some of the richest and most comfortable people are also the most miserable.

This happens when we identify with science, instead of that which gave rise to science in the first place. Atheists believe only in what they can measure with the senses. For them the scientific method is the ultimate test of reality. These people does not believe that they have a soul, so the only thing they can identify with is the ego. For them they are the ego. The problem with this world view is that since they don’t believe in an ultimate reality where we are all one, they are motivated to act from the ego or separation. Not all atheists act like this, but most do.

When science is viewed from such a point of view, it is seen as a means to conquer nature and others. We see this in wars between nations and environmental damage. Some of the things science has created threatens our very survival as a species. Nuclear and biological weapons has the potential to wipe us out. We are also seeing immense damage being done to the environment when man uses science for their own greed. Science itself is neither good nor bad. It can clearly be used for the good or the bad of mankind. This is where spirituality comes in.

Whether we use technology for good or bad will depend on our level of consciousness. If we act in ignorance of the fact that we are one with nature and each other, then will we continue to use science for evil. We will try to dominate nature and each other, because that is what you do if you see yourself as separate. The ego sees itself as separated and alone, and therefor it lives in fear. It thinks by having power over others and nature it will become happy. But even if these things are attained, the fear always lingers that these things can be lost.

The way that the ego goes about finding happiness was always bound to fail. The only way to be happy is to get in touch with that part of yourself which is timeless and one with all other things. Then there is no need to impress others, because you have found true worth within yourself. You don’t identify with science itself, but that which made science possible in the first place. Many scientists and atheists claim that science isn’t analogues to religion. But think about it. An atheist believes there is no God. But they can’t be certain of that either.

For one thing no one has ever proved that God does not exist. So to it turns out that being atheist is a type of religion itself, because they believe in something they have no proof of. We all believe in something because very few of us, if any, actually knows the truth. I believe it is possible to find God subjectively, but since I haven’t completed my path it is a type of belief for me as well. But for me it is a faith that keeps getting stronger as more are revealed to me. It’s not just a blind belief. Furthermore, it is for the best of everyone to believe that we are all part of the same whole.

If we believe that and start living as if that was the case, things would drastically improve for us. We would stop trying to dominate each other and nature. We would act from love instead of fear. There doesn’t even have to be anything mystical about his. But ultimately like I said science is neither good nor bad. We need to make science something good by going behind our ego personality and realizing our oneness with all things through spiritual inquiry.

Being ———> Feeling ———> Thinking ———> Doing

Above are the four levels of existence. It is impossible to not be in at least one of these states of existence, but everything starts with being. Being is the subtlest from of existence, and also the most real. Being is absolute reality, where God exists. It is that field of all possibilities from where the whole physical universe came from. Feeling is next, which is less subtle then being. Yet still it can’t be seen. No one has ever observed a feeling. After feeling comes thinking, which is closer to something physical. Thought can actually be observed by scientists as electrical firings in the brain.

And finally there is doing, which is physical action. Doing is the least subtle form of existence, and the least real. Most people exist in their heads. They are always thinking about either the past or the future. Therefor they spend very little time just being. As long as you think, there is no time to be, because pure being implies no thought. People think by doing they will eventually feel or be happy. But this never works. No matter how many things they get done, there is always more to do. But it never made sense to swim upstream, did it?

Since everything flows from being, it makes much more sense to start there. That way you can just drift downstream. Sounds simple? It is. The whole universe came from being, and it did so effortlessly. If the whole universe with it’s infinite complexity came from being, then it only makes sense for us to do so as well. Nature and all it’s complexities works like this as well. There is no such thing as effort in nature. Trees don’t strain to grow, it just happens. Birds don’t strain to migrate, they just do. It is only humans who uses effort and thinks ahead or looks back.

If we came from being, things would become effortless and easy. A great Indian sage, Nisargadatta Maharaj, once said this: “The window is the absence of the wall, and it gives air and light because it is empty. Be empty of al mental content, of all imagination and effort, and the very absence of obstacles will cause reality to rush in”. Believe it or not, this is the fastest way to get what you want. From a state of being everything becomes effortless. And the more you are grounded in being, the faster your desires manifest.

This is because you have the force of the whole universe behind you. When you act from thought(ego), the power you have to manifest your desires are considerably less. The universal have infinitely more power than the personal. Also, when you come from being, you can’t help but come from love, because love is the essential nature of being. This in turn causes your feelings, thoughts and action to benefit everyone around you as well. If you act from the ego you act out of personal interest and it often has a negative effect on everything around you.

This is why the world is currently in the state that it is in. People have been driven by their egos which is motivated by fear, and it has created wars, untold environmental damage, and poverty. If everyone lived from being, which is based in love, we would see the opposite of this happening. We would see peace, a healthy environment, and abundance. It sounds almost to good to be true, doesn’t it? That is only because we humans have become so out of touch with our true selves, which is pure being. We have complicated things for ourselves to the point where things seem beyond repair.

But luckily for us the solution is simple. To exist in a state of being is the easiest thing, because it doesn’t require you to do anything. But it is hard for us because we always have something to do or think about. Therefor it is important to make time to just be. As always, this can be done through meditation, but also by reminding yourself to be mindful. To me mindful is to observe your thoughts. As soon as your thoughts drift into the past or future, just notice it and bring your focus back to the present. The present is the only place where being resides, and when you access it fully anything will become possible for you.

I have a possible explanation for God that I want to share with you. The idea came to me when I was debating an atheist on the internet about whether or not God exists. Of course I won’t be able to prove to you that God exists, but I can give you a good hypothesis, after which you can decide for yourself whether you’d like to test the hypothesis for yourself. Atheists are mostly scientists, who wants material proof for everything. They are just at the opposite side of the same spectrum with religion. Religion takes things on blind faith, while scientists wants hard proof.

I told this atheist that I have learned in life that extremes are never good. There is always a happy middle ground. And the middle ground here is between science and religion. Both have it’s place, but both have it’s limitations. For instance, how do you proof being through science? The only way to proof being is by experiencing it. Why would you want to prove something that you are? You just know and that is enough. Religion on the other hand just accepts certain things without any scientific proof whatsoever, which makes them vulnerable as well.

The atheists then asked me how I define God. Scientists likes definitions after all. But I wasn’t going to make it that easy on him. If we assume that God is the cause of the Universe, which is in line with the traditional definition of him, then how much sense would it make to try and explain him in terms of anything inside of the Universe? In other words, words can’t do the job. The best words can do is to explain what God is not, like unborn, undying, unmanifest, unknown, etc. This is where science falls short, because they try to explain God with their brains, when God is transcendent to the brain.

I made a post about this earlier titled Is Life Like a Computer Game? In this post I argued that the universe is like a giant computer game, and God is the creator of it. As long as you try to find God inside the computer, you are doomed to fail. To find God you must totally shift your perspective. In other words you must step out of the game yourself. How is this done? Through spiritual seeking. It is done by going beyond the ego and this world of ‘things’. This is what spiritual discipline like meditation is for. By practicing spiritual disciplines you gradually disidentify with the ego and ‘the game’.

And by doing this you start identifying with God. At the end of the journey you become God. This is also called self-realization in spiritual circles. This is a state of being, not a state of feeling, thinking, or doing. Your five senses is useless to experience this reality. Not even your thoughts or your feelings will help you here. You are just pure being. When I explained this to the atheist he asked me on which facts do I base this. But that is like asking on what facts do I base my existence. I don’t base my existence on anything, I just know that I exist.

Then the atheist went on to ask me who created the creator. This is a good question, one I have asked myself on several occasions as well. This is where a certain amount of faith comes in I think, because this is a hard question to answer. If what the spiritual masters has told us is true, which is that there is a state of complete knowing, then it takes time to get to that place. These masters did not just stumble on the truth by accident. They were seekers before they found the answer. Therefor if we are going to find God, we must do the same.

God is a subjective experience, and every person needs to have it for themselves. This is where faith is important. Faith is not the same as belief. Belief is a cover-up for insecurities, which is what religion is about. Faith is knowing on an intuitive level that something could be true, and then following that intuition until you’ve realized the truth fully. I can’t think of a better reason to be alive. If God exists, which he seems to, then it is only logical to look for him. And when you find God you will have all the answers once and for all.

http://www.near-death.com/experiences/origen11.html

Above you can view some shocking statements made in the Bible by ‘God’. According to the Bible God says men are better than women, homosexuals deserve to die, disobedient children must be stoned to death, God is jealous, and many more similar terrible things. Could God really have said these things? These kind of statements about God remind me very much about the Greek Gods of old that used to be unpredictable and vicious. Mankind at that time experienced a natural disaster, and attributed it to the fact that God was punishing them for whatever reason.

It was a primitive time when men still had little understanding of how the universe works. They had to have an explanation for why bad things happen, and in their ignorance they assumed it was all the work of God. Things have not changed much since then. Only the argument is now that if God existed or cared, millions of people wouldn’t suffer each day here on earth. The fact that people don’t understand why bad things happen have not changed, only their explanation has altered. They now believe that God either does not exist or that he takes a passive approach to His/Her(I don’t believe God has a gender) creation.

These people are obviously not religious. Yet their argument is not very different from religious people; it is just at the opposite side of the spectrum. Religious people think that the end time is near and that is why all these bad things are happening. Both religious people and non-believers think of God in human terms. It never occurred to them that God is not anything like humans at all and that maybe they need to think out of the box for once in their lives. According to the online dictionary, God is defined as the supreme or ultimate reality.

Now, given how little we still understand about ultimate reality, wouldn’t it only make sense to think of God in out-of-the-box terms? Yet there are millions of fundamental Christians around the world who still cling to the belief that the Bible is inspired by God and therefor it must be 100% accurate. Their counter-argument for all the shocking statements in the Old Testament is that men is innately evil(as if God created evil beings), so that God had to send his only son to die for us so we can be redeemed. If we then choose to accept God’s offer, we will be saved.

So what they are saying is that God acted like a mad parent(human), but then somehow found it in his heart to send us his only son. This sounds like God changed. Again, change is a human quality. Why would supreme and ultimate reality change? It never ever occurred to them that God gave as true free will(not the free will version of religion) and that we are free to create whatever we want. It is only humans who set conditions and limits on things. It is only humans who are jealous, vengeful, and disappointed. According to the Old Testament God is all these things.

If God is indeed the supreme and ultimate reality, then why would he act like the Old Testament describes? Surely God is ‘bigger’ than that. Or else he simply isn’t supreme and ultimate, but just another flawed human. So if the Bible is wrong, then what is the answer? The answer is that we are all a part of God, and that God is not somewhere outside his creation and uninterested. We are the co-creators of reality with God. There is no separation. The only separation that exist is in the mind. It is the ego, the individual that you believe yourself to be. God can’t be non-existent either. There is too much proof that we live in an intelligent universe.

But I know for atheists this is unacceptable. They still believe that everything they see around them can still somehow be due to chance. To them all I can say is that they can’t prove that God does not exist. To the people who say that God does not care about his creation, I say that we have collectively created this nightmare and that we are Gods. We have been given everything to make this world paradise, but we have chosen hate over love, separation over unity, ego over soul, and war over peace. To change this, and I don’t think it is too late, we need to change our collective consciousness.

We need to make a paradigm shift. This is what is happening at the moment, although it is sometimes hard notice. More and more people are starting to move away from religious superstition and embracing a new spirituality. In this spirituality we are all divine children of God whose birthright is love, peace, and abundance. Once a critical mass of people come to this understanding and take it to heart, this world will be the paradise it was always meant to be. This is the Bible’s equivalent to the second coming. It will be a shift towards global Christ consciousness which will result in God’s kingdom here on earth.

Ps. I am making the argument that the Bible is not inspired by God here, but that does not mean all of it. The point is that it was written by fallible men, and therefor it has its flaws. My argument is really against those fundamentalists who claim that the Bible is 100% correct. I still think there is a divine message somewhere in there, but it takes someone with insight and wisdom to extrapolate that message and interpret the Bible correctly. If you are interested I suggest you read The Third Jesus by Deepak Chopra.

The Bible can be difficult to interpret at times, not to mention knowing whether it is all true. It has always astounded me somewhat how religion are so sure of themselves when interpreting the Bible, while at the same time claiming that it is all 100% accurate. First of all, who said that the Bible is 100% accurate, and why should we believe him/her? And lets say we accept it is 100% accurate, then how do we know who interprets it the right way and who doesn’t? I know religion claims that the Bible is 100% correct because they say it was inspired by God.

But if God wanted us to get a clear message, would he really have made it this hard for us? Would he have wanted us to put our faith in what people wrote some time after events had occurred from what they have been told by others? More importantly, would he have wanted others to interpret the Bible for us? Why would He give us a brain only for us to allow others to imprint their beliefs on it? To me, if there is such a thing as sin, then that must be it. If God wanted us to get a message, I seriously doubt he would have spoken to us only once a in history and then disappear again.

If God cared about us like the Bible says, he would always be in contact with us if we are willing to listen. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to believe in a God who sends us one message through one book, and then leaves us t0 pick up the pieces. Yet still, there is much to be learned from the Bible if we know how to interpret it correctly. Personally I don’t have much use for the old testament. It seems way too harsh, as if God was a human. Only humans are that harsh. God is not vengeful and judgmental. I think it was written in a time when life was very harsh, and therefor people thought God was harsh.

I find the new testament more accessible. Consider the following versus in the Bible:

“If anyone comes to me, and doesn’t hate his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he can’t be my disciple.” (Luke 14:26)

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” (John 14:6-7)

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 14:16-17)

If you take the first verse literally, it makes little sense, because Jesus taught love not hate. But if you look at the deeper meaning, it points to the fact that ego is what holds us back from finding God. When you are not identified with your ego, you know that the ego is not the real you, and neither is this earthly life and everything that goes with it, including family. In enlightenment you realize your oneness with all things and that you can never be truly separated from anything. Thus this verse points to the attachments of the ego, which needs to be ended to achieve enlightenment.

The next two versus are controversial as far as I’m concerned, because religion has interpreted those versus very literally, especially the bolded parts. Christianity makes it very clear that you must except Jesus as your personal savior, or you will burn in eternal hell. For me Christianity takes the Bible way too literally overall. If they take the second and third quotes literally, then it would only be consistent to take the first quote literally as well. But religion has never struck me as very consistent anyway. Surely they can’t possibly take the first quote literally as well.

What kind of God would want you to hate your family and your life to be saved, right? Another thing I have noticed is that Jesus speaks very metaphorically. If you take everything he says literally you would completely miss most of his teachings. The meaning of the second and third quotes is not that you would burn forever if you deny Christ. That would be the literal meaning. The true meaning is that Jesus serves as the perfect example, because he is enlightened himself. So what he means by saying that he is the way and the truth and the life, is that we must be like him.

If we become like him, we would abide in the Father/God/Source like he does. It really is that simple. When he says that those that doesn’t believe in him shall perish, it doesn’t mean they will burn in hell. It just means that they are ignorant of truth and therefor they live in darkness. Jesus was like a shining beacon that came to the world so that anyone who bothered to really take his message to heart, could gain enlightenment as well. That does not mean he was the only one. There have been many like him, like Buddha, Mohammed, etc. But he may well have been the most impacting one of them all.

Consider the following versus:

Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17: 20-21)

I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. (John 14:12)

His message was that the kingdom of God was within, and that we shall do all of what he did and more if we have faith. This is consistent with enlightenment, because enlightenment is simply finding that the kingdom of God is within, and not somewhere outside. And when you become enlightened you will be able to so what Jesus did and more. I don’t think he would have said these things if he was the one and only son of God. So this must mean that we are all sons and daughter of God and we can all become like Jesus. This is the goal of the spiritual journey.

Ps. I realize the title of my post make it seem like I know how to interpret the Bible, but my point is really that you should interpret the Bible in a way that makes sense for you, and not just take someone else’s word for it. A loving God is not going to throw in in hell for doing that.

One way to achieve enlightenment is through completely merging with the Now. This is because God exists in the Now. In truth there is no such thing as time, but only one eternal Now. Time as you experience it, flows from the past to the present, and into the future. But if you think about it, both the past and the future happens in the Now. The past is nothing but a memory and the future is nothing but a fantasy. In other words it happens in your mind as a thought. But you are not your thoughts, you are the consciousness where thoughts come from, or the soul as religion calls it.

Nonetheless, time seems very real indeed. We see the effects of time in our own bodies as we grow older. We know time ‘happened’ because things change. Yet the notion that time is an absolute law of nature that we have no control over has already been smashed by science. Science has already told us that there is no such thing as absolute time when Einstein proposed the theory of relativity. Quantum physics also tells us that an event only occurs in space-time once there is an observer to observe it. Before that it was only a possibility.

The only theory that makes sense then is that time happens in consciousness or being, as the movement of thought. We created it to be able to experience the flow of events. But in pure being itself there is no such thing as time. It just is. It is that ground state of being where the entire universe originated. This ground state is pure consciousness. It is infinitely creative, dynamic and intelligent. It is what religion refers to as God. God can only be found by merging with this moment. But we humans find that very difficult to do because we identify with our minds or our ego.

We are always regretting things that happened in the past or fretting about the future. To experience pure being we need to move beyond the mind and the ego, which can be done through meditation. In meditation you can quite your mind and reach deeper levels of awareness where time and ego does not exist. It also helps to stop analyzing, judging, and interpreting things. These are all activities of the ego, and as long as you identify with the ego, there is no way you will be able to access the power of the present moment.

Another thing one can do is simply to be aware of the present moment as much as possible. As soon as you realize you are drifting off into the past or future, simply bring your attention back to the now. Take in as much as possible from this moment and just be present. We all make the mistake of thinking that in the future we will be happy, when all the happiness you need is in this moment. This is not some kind of myth. You don’t need to fulfill your desires in order to be happy. You can still go after your desires, but your happiness won’t depend on it. The happiness then becomes the process, not the outcome.

Being experientially alive in this very moment becomes the ultimate happiness. You don’t react to the unknown in predictable and conditioned ways. You are at one with this moment and the right response comes to you in every moment. This is to be in a state of freedom and enlightenment, but to get there is a process. It takes practice to be fully present, because we are so used to be the slaves of our minds and egos. But the quest to be fully present is the most important quest one can undertake in this life, because the reward is total freedom and power.

We all want to become happier people, and in order to do so we must ask the big questions – Where did I come from? What am I doing here? Where do I go when I die? As far as I know there are three basic ways to get answers to these very important questions. They are through science, religion, and spirituality. People who use science as a basis for answering these questions think it is the best way because they think material reality is the basis for all existence. Yet science itself has proven that material reality has no provable existence itself!

At the sub-atomic level all matter turns into nothing but energy. Atoms itself are 99.999% empty space, and all material things are made up out of atoms vibrating at incredible speeds. Then you have quantum physics, which says that an atom only exists once it is measured. Before it is measured or observed it exists only as a possibility wave. Science have been working at a theory for everything for some time now, but it is proving as illusive as ever. It looks more and more likely that science will never find the answer, because the observer and the observed are not separate.

In other words there is no meaning out there save the meaning we give it. And I don’t know if science is ready to accept this fact, because that would mean that consciousness is primary. And science believes in a random universe with no meaning. There are scientists who believe in an intelligent universe, but their views are being rejected by main stream science as spiritual mumbo jumbo. So although great strides are being taken in science, it appears that hard core scientists will never see the light, because they reject the possibility that we could live in a conscious universe.

Next there is religion. Religion in a lot of ways is the opposite of science. Where science wants hard proof, religion thinks that blind faith is the most important thing. For instance, Christian fundamentalists have no problem believing that the Bible is 100% fact, despite the fact that it was written thousands of years ago, not to mention that we have no way of knowing whether it was completely accurate since it was written by men. Many of the things in the Bible was told over and then written down way after events happened, and there is no way it is all going to 100% accurate.

Also men have their own agendas and it is highly likely that early Christians changed things from the way they actually happened in order to start a new religion. Also, the church interpret the Bible in whatever way suits them. If you are religious you are going to have to accept the fact that you believe in some things purely because other people do, whether you like it or not. In this way religion is flawed, since you don’t get your information directly from the Source or someone close to it, but from people who you don’t know who started a movement around a certain person a long time before you were alive.

In this way the message from Jesus, Buddha, Muhammad, and other enlightened souls became diluted. Personally I take great inspiration from these individuals, but only after stripped from all the religious doctrine surrounding them. The thing about religion is that it has been around for so long and it is so embedded in human consciousness that it’s flaws won’t be seen easily. I have talked to many Christians, and they are mostly completely stubborn in their views. And that is understandable to a certain extent since people get told they will burn in hell forever if they change their views.

It often takes something very radical to happen in a religious person’s life before they are willing to look past their limiting views, and even that is no guarantee. Not all religious people are fundamentalists though, and just like there are scientists who have moved away from main stream science, there are religious people who have done the same. These people don’t hold out there point of view as the one and only way, but merely another way. And not surprisingly these people have been condemned by fundamentalists as well. Finally there is pure spirituality.

Science and religion are two extremes. The one is too focused on physical proof, while the other is not focused on it enough. In the middle you have pure spirituality, which takes both science and religion into account, but not in a fanatical way. Spirituality realizes that science is a part of life and that it should be used in the search for meaning. But it does not overestimate what science is capable of. Science is not God itself, and therefor it will never have all the answers. Religion is also honored as a means to search for truth, but dogma is done away with.

Each religion has important truths to it that could be used in the search for God. But in the end neither science nor religion is really necessary to find God. That is because you are God. How would you search for something that you are yourself?! But people get so distracted by outside things like religion and science that it’s almost impossible for them to see the obvious. To even say such a thing is total blasphemy if you are religious. In this way religion is is achieving the opposite of what it set out to achieve, which is to find God. They make the fundamental mistake that God is separate from them, and therefor their search is doomed to fail.

So why is spirituality the easiest path? Spirituality is the easiest path because you are not held back by the obstacles of hard core science and religious fundamentalism. Once you have done this you have made great progress on the spiritual path. You have broken free of all the conditioning that holds millions of people back from making progress. The reason it is the most difficult path is that the biggest obstacle, your ego, must now be dealt with. Religious people and scientists don’t have this difficulty because they haven’t even realize the ego is the problem yet.

//

They think they are their ego, and therefore have no need to let go of their own self-importance. Scientists think that the ego is all there is. At least religious people believe in the existence of a creator, but they believe that they are separate from their creator. So in a way science and religion haven’t even started on the spiritual path yet. Once you realize that you are not your ego, you can start to remember what you truly are. The ego is everything you define yourself by. It’s your job, your income, your name, your sex, your race, your nationality, etc.

This is not the real you. People think by getting a better job, having more money, more sex, more self importance, will make them more real, when in fact it only serves to strengthen the ego and make them less real. The fact is that when you give up your need to control and be important, you gain more control and become more important. When you stop identifying with the ego, you gain access to infinite power and intelligence. You become infinitely stronger than you could ever be by adding more material things and worldly importance to yourself.

You become one with the field from which all things come, and therefor you can create anything at will. Therefor if you want to be fulfilled your first priority should be to let go of your own ego and own self importance. Stop trying to control everything and go with the flow. Stop judging things as either good or bad all the time. This will bring you closer to reality. We have all had glimpses of this reality, although we may not have realized it. In this reality you felt at one with all things. This state can also be experienced in the stillness of meditation where thought does not interfere.

Only when the incessant chatter of the mind stops can that ground state where all things arise from be experienced. Long before science started working on a theory of everything did saints and sages know this truth. Ancient wisdom traditions has told us these truths even before religion came along. That was possible because these sages and saints went within to find God. They used yoga or meditation among other things to find enlightenment and the meaning of life. They have all told us that God is not separate from us and that he is to be found within.

We are entering a time now where more and more people are starting to see these truths. We are currently going through a spiritual revolution which will change the world as we know it. There will of course always be the fundamentalists who cling to old beliefs for dear life, but that doesn’t mean that things aren’t changing. Once a critical mass of people have realized their own divinity, this earth will change drastically. Where the ego has caused war, division, greed, lust for power, hate and such things, identifying with the soul will cause mankind to live in love, peace, oneness, equality, beauty and more.
